Thank you for applying to the People United Artist Commission programme. Please refer to the Artist Commissions 2018 brief for details of each commission. 

This year we have two commissions as part of our annual programme, and in collaboration with people who will participate in the project are looking for female artists. 

Commission 1: Self-identity in association with Joining Hands, Joining Hearts (supported by Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Optivo)

Commission 2: Home in association with Diocese of Canterbury and Ashford Borough Council (supported by Arts Council England)

Please note interviews will take place on:

SELF-IDENTITY: Friday 23 March 2018  in Sittingbourne, Kent

HOME: Tuesday 20 March 2018 in Ashford, Kent

Unfortunately we are unable to interview via Skype or offer any alternative dates.

In this application, please provide:

A summary of your proposal (50 words max)

Your proposal: This should include the following: description of your proposal; your artistic rationale and proposed methodologies; how participation will be at the heart of your proposal; and an indication of your proposed outcomes.

This should be submitted as a written document e.g. Word (maximum 2 sides of typed A4).

A five minute (max) film or visual proposal - the film should involve you, and your collaborator if appropriate (and practical), explaining what your proposal is about, what it might look like and how you intend to go about making it happen. We are not expecting these to be high tech or polished - we are focussed more on shortlisting good ideas from people who are able to communicate with a diverse group of people. The films will be shown to the women who will participate so please bear this in mind carefully when planning your application. 

Answer the following question: Why are you interested in working with People United? (max 500 words)

A CV: Maximum two sides of A4 that demonstrates your previous experience and working practice. Where an application is being made as a joint approach, please include a CV for each artist involved

An indication of expenditure referring to for example, artist fees, materials, accommodation and travel etc.

Names and contact details of two referees (per artist)

Up to 3 examples of previous work: If appropriate, please provide links to YouTube or Vimeo etc. ensuring that you include any passwords that might be required to access the work.
